My work is based on observations. I apply my desire to create and my observation skills to tell stories or illustrate metaphors and hope others will connect with the images and enjoy my work. Compositionally, photographs often depict a detached, singular subject set aside or isolated from the rest of the image. Often I use high contrast and deep blacks to accentuate the subject.

My work has shown in numerous regional one man shows and has been published in several literary magazines. I have recently participated in the Midwest Photography Project at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Photography.

The images identified as Black and White Photographs are hand processed on fiber paper, usually Ilford paper, and selenium toned for permanence. Those images identified as LightJet prints have been digitally altered or enhanced in such away that I can not reproduce them in the darkroom. In those cases a high resolution file is delivered to a professional lab and printed on Fuji Crystal Archive Professional Photographic Paper. All photographs are matted with white 100% cotton, acid-free and neutral pH Museum Board, and are ready to be framed. A simple crisp black frame, such as Nielsen #11 or #25, would give a clean and distinctive look. Nielsen frames are available from Daniel Smith art supplies and other venues.

All my photographs are printed one at a time and are not mass produced. In some cases allow a few days for printing, toning, flattening and matting. My interpretation of a negative may change over time. A recent print from a negative may have a different look or feel than a print from the same negative made several years ago.

The photographs are printed on 11”X14” or 16”X20” paper and most are matted to 16”X20” or 20”X24” respectively (odd size mats are noted with the individual photograph information). Photographs matted to 16”X20” are $125, 20”X24” matted photographs are $175.
